LANSING, MI – August 7, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) –Sen. Patty Birkholz and Rep. Rick Jones announced that the city of Grand Ledge will receive a state grant of $325,500 for a rental housing project.

“Grand Ledge is a great community,” said Birkholz, R-Saugatuck Township.  “I am pleased that the city will receive the grant money to increase housing options for local residents or people looking to move into the area.”

The city will use the funds to assist landlords in the rehabilitation of two rental units and creation of six more units in downtown Grand Ledge.

“This may prove to be an excellent economic growth opportunity for the community,” said Jones, R-Grand Ledge.  “Making more homes available in downtown could increase the number of people visiting local businesses.”

The funds are provided through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority grant program.
