OFIR Shuts Down Fake Detroit Mortgage Company

LANSING, MI - February 4, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) — The Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR) shut down an operation claiming to be a Detroit-based mortgage company called “Kenneth and Doyle Financial” by ordering it to cease and desist from doing business. OFIR believes that Kenneth, through its website, http://www.kennethdoylefinancial.com, was posing as a legitimate mortgage company in an attempt to steal consumers’ money and identity. The fraudulent company was encouraging customers to apply for loans by providing personal information including social security and financial account numbers.

“OFIR will continue to make it our business to put these fake financial companies out of business,” OFIR Commissioner Ken Ross said. “This was most likely an advance fee scam, where consumers are lured into paying upfront fees for services they never get in return.”

OFIR contacted Kenneth’s website host and the website has been shut down.

Following numerous consumer complaints, OFIR conducted an investigation and found that Kenneth was not licensed under the state’s Mortgage Brokers, Lenders and Servicers Licensing Act.

To find out if a mortgage company is licensed to do business in the state, consumers can contact OFIR toll-free at 877-999-6442 or visit the agency’s website www.michigan.gov/ofir and click “Who We Regulate.”

Thank goodness Kenneth and Doyle Financial got shut down!! They tried to get me to send a bad contract, ID and $5300 to secure a small business loan. I asked lots of questions, investigated and decided they were a scam (before any complaints were posted) so I reported them to the FTC and BBB. I am SO glad I didn’t lose my money! I am amazed at how many loan scams are out there. It’s just evil.

BTW… Kenneth and Doyle Financial website seems to still be active. I hope they do shut it down soon!

Kenneth and Doyle Financial offered us a loan for $25,000.00 for 15 years but we had to wire the first 10 months payment that was $2,100.00 and then they called back and said the lender wanted $2,100.00 more for insurance purposes to guaratee that we would pay our debt.We altogether wired $4200.00 to Canada and then was told the loan fell through and but someone else would give us a loan for $50,000.00 if we would send $4200.00 more but we did not need that much so told them just give our money back and they say it will be in our account by March 1st. Then we googled Kenneth and Doyle Financial and saw where other people were being taken advantage of. They are taking advantage of people with not so perfect credit. People that are in a hard spot and needing help and putting them more and more in debt. We are contacting the FBI Monday to see what and how we can get our money back. My cousin in Detroit said it was in The Detroit News that the state was shutting them down. What to do now?? We spoke to Kurt Gibson and David Reynolds.

We are also the vitim of this scam. We sent Canada $3600.00 not including the fees it cost to send it.
We spoke with Norman Walsh, and David Reynolds. Was told the CEO of the company was Bryan Edwards.
If you find out from FBI, if there is anything we can do please contact us as we would be glad to help put these criminals in jail.
Thanks,
Dave

Well, I guess we should have gone with our gut feeling. We were trying to get $300 ONLY and were told the minimum we could get was $5,000. So, we wired $646 to the Canada number and the girls that wired it felt that this was a scam, but we didn’t believe them. They said why would you have to send money to get money. Well, when we were supposed to get the money, we were told we had to send $600 more. As I am on disability, we were going to send it after I received my monthly check. We thought it over and decided we couldn’t wait until then to get the money and also, we couldn’t really release the $600 more so, we called and asked for our money back and as the rest of you know, WE WERE STUPID and NOW, we are out $646. Please let me know what I can do to retrieve this money. We signed papers on February 6, 2010 and it appears they were shut down on February 4. So, they were still operating?? What’s the deal and how can people like me, bad credit, on disability needing some extra money for medication and such since I have NO health insurance. PLEASE, someone let me know what I can do to get my money back. Thank you and have a blessed day - God has taken care of us through this time of shortage but we still need to get the money back.

Contact your Attorney Generals Office and they will tell you how to fill out a complaint form and they will take it from there!!

I don’t understand if they were shut down, then why are they still taking calls at the same number. Why can’t the FBI, police and law enforcements contact them and trace theire calls to arrest them.
They are still telling me that I will get my refund on March 6th, but I know I will not. That date is on a Saturday.
I have filed complaints with FBI,BBB,Attorney General.
When I called the Attorney Generals office in Pa, (Where we live) they told me to call Michigan Attorney General, they then transferred me to Canada.
So what Attorney Generals office should it be reported to??

On 1/27/2010 I recieved a phone call from a Norman Walsh informing me that I was approved for a loan. Norman Walsh said that there mininum amount was 5000.00 and at that time I was in dyre need of monies to pay off some bills. Anyway I was informed to sign a loan agreement and also send in 5 monthly payments of 151.94 because it was to secure payment for the loan. Then I was asked to send the monies through a western union and I was send the monies to someone in Canada I began to ask why are they investors in Canada and how do I know that this investors will come thru and they had insured me that if anything would happen that they would file a law suit against the investors. I sent the monies and when it was time to receive the money they said that the investors were having problems with there system and then I recieved a call from a David Reynolds informing that me that I was to much of a risk for the investors and they would not be able to distribute funds and they would need an additional 5 payments to secure the loan. I did send another 760.00 how stupid of me and I was suppose to received the monies by Monday before 12pm. I never recieved the monies and I contacted there office and he informed me that the investors fail through and the were drawing up legal documents to sue them but he then said that he will be willing to return my monies in full and very apologetic about the situation. but by then I already knew that somthing was’nt right because he then ask for 10 more payments and this would be with a new investors and they give me 10,000.00 for the same payment amount etc. I said no I would like for you guys to return my money and they informed me that I would not be able to recieve my money until the beginning of March because of there billing cycle. How stupid of me now my information is out to some strangers who claimed to be a Financial Service Co. who can help me and they just took more of what I did’nt have already.
