MSU Extension offers a free class, Are You Ready to Buy a Home?, September 8.
September 5, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — MSU Extension is offering a class, Are You Ready to Buy a Home? on September 8, 2011 from 6:30 – 8:30 at the Warren City Hall, 1 City Square, in Warren. It is free of cost and open to the public. For more information or to register, please call 586-469-7614.
Learn what you can afford given your income and debt, required credit scores and the necessary commitment to maintain a home. Government and community programs are available to assist people with low-moderate income who are mortgage-eligible purchase their first home. Programs define first-time homebuyers as never owning a home or not owning a home for the past three years.
Examples of programs that will be discussed are the Michigan State Housing Development Authority loan and down payment assistance, the Macomb County American Dream and Individual Development Account programs, the City of Warren Neighborhood Stabilization Program and Habitat for Humanity.
MSU Extension offers free “Home Ownership” series on September 15, 22 & 29.
MSU Extension is offering a 3-part workshop on Home Ownership on September 15, 22 & 29, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Leaps and Bounds Family Services, 8129 Packard, in Warren.

Home Ownership will focus on consumer protection during the home buying process. Learn to:
- Effectively select and finance a home,
- Hire the right real estate agent, lawyer, home inspector and lender, and
- Understand the closing process.
Invest in your homeownership success. Research has shown that people who attend pre-purchase housing counseling or education are more likely to make on-time payments on their mortgage and are less likely to default on their loans.
