Demand Increases at Water Resource Sites Over 300 volunteers help in visiting over 13,000 homes today

-

FLINT, Mich. – January 26, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The city’s five water resource sites experienced an increased demand in bottled water today, distributing over 300 pallets of water in seven hours, making it the busiest day of operation yet

In addition to this activity, water response teams also continued their door-to-door efforts, today visiting 13,684 homes providing free bottled water, filters, water replacement cartridges and water testing kits. The teams are composed of city, county and state personnel, American Red Cross and volunteers, as well as National Guard Soldiers and Airmen. More than 300 volunteers took part in today’s activities.

Since Jan. 9, 2016, the following resources have been distributed to residents, both at the water resource sites and by water response teams:

148,866 cases of water
86,843 water filters
25,586 water testing kits
While the state continues to increase the amount of water it is purchasing and providing, this increased demand provides some logistical challenges. In order to ensure supply keeps pace with demand, residents are reminded the general guideline is one case of bottled water per household per day.

As part of the distribution process, residents seeking water filters and replacement cartridges are asked to share their address. This data is being collected and mapped in real-time to assist with long-term recovery and help water response teams know where to focus their door-to-door efforts. It is important to note that no resident will be denied resources if an address is not provided, and a photo identification is not required.

The State of Michigan has purchased the following resources, in addition to donations, since January 5:

133,662 cases of water
115,700 water filters
61,161 water testing kits
Water resource sites remain open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and are located at:

Flint, MI 48502

Fire Station #3
1525 Martin Luther King Ave.

Flint, MI 48506

Fire Station #6

Samples are only accepted using the official water testing kits provided at the water resource sites and by the water response teams.
