New shorelands program helps waterfront homeowners improve shorelines, inland lakes

The Michigan Natural Shoreline Partnership recently launched a program to help lakefront homeowners understand best practices to protect their shoreland and inland lakes. The Michigan Shoreland Stewards Program will recognize inland lake property owners who are using healthy property management practices to protect their inland lake and offer tips to improve the shoreline further.


Justice Department Obtains $150,000 Settlement in Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Against Owner...

The Justice Department today announced that Frank D. Tjoelker, an owner and manager of rental properties in and around Grand Rapids, Michigan, will pay $150,000 to resolve allegations that he sexually harassed multiple women who have lived in or inquired about his rental properties. Since January of this year, the Civil Rights Division has filed or settled five cases alleging unlawful sexual harassment of women in housing and recovered over $1 million for victims such harassment.
