LARA Summarily Suspends St. Joseph County Adult Foster Care Family Home License

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — The Michigan Department Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), Bureau of Community and Health Systems (BCHS), issued an order of summary suspension and notice of intent to revoke the license of a St. Joseph County adult foster care family home licensee, Shoheli Talukder, 59296 Noah Lake Road, Three Rivers, Michigan. This action resulted from a recent investigation of a complaint of the adult foster care family home.

The July 29, 2016, complaint investigation found violations of the Adult Foster Care Facility Licensing Act and administrative rules regarding licensee qualifications and suitability, and resident care and protection. BCHS took emergency action to protect the health, welfare, and safety of vulnerable adults.

Effective 6:00 p.m., August 3, 2016, the summary suspension order prohibits Shoheli Talukder from operating an adult foster care family home at 59296 Noah Lake Road, Three Rivers, Michigan. Accordingly, she may not accept physically handicapped, developmentally disabled, mentally ill and aged adults for care after that date and time at said location. The order also requires Ms. Talukder to inform all of the guardians of residents in her care at the Noah Lake Road location that her license has been suspended and she can no longer provide adult foster care services at 59296 Noah Lake Road, Three Rivers, Michigan.

Ms. Talukder has held a license to operate an adult foster care family home since October 1, 2012. The license was for six adults.

Michigan law defines an adult foster care family home as “a private residence with the approved capacity to receive 6 or fewer adults to be provided with foster care. . . .”

A licensee has the right to appeal a suspension. The case will be forwarded to the Michigan Administrative Hearing System (MAHS) for a hearing date.
