LANSING, MI – July 31, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Scott Woosley, executive director of the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), today announced that Alpena County will receive a $200,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
The county will use the grant funds to rehabilitate 13 owner-occupied homes, as well as administrative costs.
MSHDA administers the federally-funded CDBG program through its Office of Community Development. CDBG funds are used by smaller communities and counties to upgrade homes owned by lower income residents and carry out other housing activities. Money also is used to fund neighborhood preservation programs, down-payment assistance programs as well as rental development and rehabilitation activities.
“Grants like this help MSHDA play a critical role in our state’s future by giving communities the tools they need to preserve decent, affordable housing for low- and moderate-income residents,” Woosley said. ”When we support activities that revitalize communities, we raised the standard of living for all who live there.”
