WASHINGTON, DC – October 5, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin, both D-Mich., announced a $589,273 grant for homeless veterans in Northern Michigan today. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs made the grant to Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan in Gaylord to provide 24 beds in transitional housing to homeless veterans.

“America’s veterans put their lives on the line for the safety of this country and its citizens,” said Stabenow. “During these difficult times, this grant will help provide shelter to those brave veterans who defended us.”

“Veterans served our nation, and we owe it to them to do all we can to support those who are struggling here at home,” Levin said. “This grant will help bring in veterans from the streets, where they will not only get a warm bed, but they will also be provided with services to help them get into permanent homes.”
