First District Receives $1,155,000 to Improve Rural Community Facilities

WASHINGTON, DC – August 4, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Menominee) announced Michigan’s First District will receive $1,155,000 in funding for facility improvement projects including dam renovations and the construction of facility for adult daycare services. The funding is being awarded to projects in Beaverton, Dickinson County, Allouez Township, Keweenaw Bay, and to Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan, Inc.

“This funding will provide critical assistance for communities and organizations in Northern Michigan to grow and succeed,” Stupak said. “Strengthening these facilities is an important step in ensuring our rural communities can thrive. I am pleased that Secretary Vilsack has made these funds available and continues to recognize the impact these organizations have across Northern Michigan.”

The funding was announced by Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and comes from the USDA Rural Development Community Facilities program under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This program helps finance and develop essential community facilities for public use in rural areas.
