Two downtown Ludington apartment buildings to be constructed using Low-Income Housing Tax Credits
Two new affordable apartment buildings will be constructed in downtown Ludington using Low-Income Housing Tax Credits from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. “This is great news for Ludington. Not only will this help several families facing housing problems, this will result in several properties being rehabilitated,” said Sen. Darwin Booher, R-Evart. “I’m glad that MSHDA stepped up to the plate and awarded this crucial funding that will help the Ludington community.”

The 24-unit senior living community Crosswinds Manor will be rehabilitated using Low-Income Housing Tax Credits from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. Located at 901 N. Bridge Street in Belding, the affordable apartment building is home to low- and very low-income senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

Even with temperatures reaching the 90s this summer, Consumers Energy is reminding qualified residents to take advantage of the Michigan Home Heating Credit. “With a filing deadline of Sept. 30, we don’t want eligible Michigan residents to miss the opportunity to qualify for the Home Heating Credit. Dollars are available now that can make a difference to many households,” said Chad Miller, Consumers Energy’s manager of low-income programs.
New shorelands program helps waterfront homeowners improve shorelines, inland lakes
The Michigan Natural Shoreline Partnership recently launched a program to help lakefront homeowners understand best practices to protect their shoreland and inland lakes. The Michigan Shoreland Stewards Program will recognize inland lake property owners who are using healthy property management practices to protect their inland lake and offer tips to improve the shoreline further.
