WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 4, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, today announced support for Filer Township in Manistee County. The $1,500,000 grant will be used to support necessary improvements to the community’s wastewater system. This investment is part of Senator Stabenow’s 2014 Farm Bill, which increased funding for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development Water and Environmental programs.

“The 2014 Farm Bill increased support to improve rural water infrastructure and help communities across Michigan grow and thrive,” said Stabenow. “Today’s announcement is great news for families and businesses in Manistee who rely on a safe, clean water supply in their community.”

The support will be used to repair failed septic systems along the US-31 corridor in Filer Township. Sen. Stabenow is Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, which has jurisdiction over rural development projects.
