Bieda’s electronic guide provides Macomb County residents with important information on property tax assessment and appeals process
WARREN, MI – March 3, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — State Senator Steven Bieda (D-Warren) announced today he has made available a taxpayer’s guide to property tax assessment to assist Macomb County residents. The guide, posted on Senator Bieda’s web-site at www.senate.michigan.gov/Bieda, focuses on taxpayer rights and explains the assessment appeals process.
“Property tax assessments can be a source of frustration for many residents,” said Sen. Bieda. “Citizens should be aware of their right to appeal unfair assessments and it’s my job as their Senator to make sure that information is readily available.”
In addition to a step-by-step description of how to effectively file an appeal, the guide also highlights how property taxes are assessed and the criteria to qualify for the Homestead Property Tax Exemption.
“I hope the residents of my district will find this guide useful and visit my web-site often for future updates,” Sen. Bieda added.
