Gov. Rick Snyder: Additional spot on Flint Water Interagency Coordinating Committee will help provide more local input

Flint City Council to recommend representative from the city

LANSING, Mich. – (RealEstateRama) — Gov. Rick Snyder today signed an executive order that will help provide more local input to the Flint Water Interagency Coordinating Committee. Executive Order 2016-8 adds one member to the Coordinating Committee who will be from the city of Flint, recommended by the Flint City Council and appointed by the governor.

“The Coordinating Committee continues to hold thoughtful and productive meetings every week, suggesting critical action items to help the people of Flint and strengthen the city,” Snyder said. “I look forward to having an additional voice that represents local residents present at the table as we work together to move Flint forward.”

Today’s executive order amends Executive Order 2016-1, which originally called for a 17-member committee and did not include a representative recommended by the city council.
The 18-member committee also includes the Mayor of Flint, representation from Genesee County and the city of Flint, experts from the state, and subject matter experts. The committee continues to work on long-term solutions to the Flint water crisis and the ongoing public health concerns affecting residents.

Members of the FWICC serve three-year terms.
