37,697 Home Visits To Date by Water Resource Teams

FLINT, Mich. – January 26, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Over 30 water response teams made up of more than 300 community volunteers and Michigan National Guard Soldiers and Airmen distributed water resources to 5,920 Flint homes today. Many of today’s visits are the second time a team contacted the resident to provide bottled water, filters, water replacement cartridges and water testing kits.

“We are very appreciative of the generous outpouring of support for Flint’s residents,” said Capt. Chris Kelenske, Deputy State Director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security and commander of the Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division. “Volunteers continue to support this effort with their time, talents, and treasure.”

This weekend, door-to-door efforts will continue with the National Guard and more than 200 volunteers coordinated by the Community Volunteer Reception Center. As a reminder, all community volunteers on the water response teams will be wearing either official State of Michigan or Red Cross identification.

As part of the distribution process, members of the National Guard at the water resource sites are asking residents seeking filters and replacement cartridges to share their address in order to more accurately gather information for long-term recovery efforts. However, no resident will be denied resources if an address is not provided.

The following resources have been distributed to residents, both at the water resource sites and by water response teams, in addition to donations:

More than 121,400 cases of water
More than 82,600 water filters
More than 23,400 water testing kits
This data is being collected and mapped in real-time, so water response teams know where to focus their door-to-door efforts.

The State of Michigan has purchased the following resources, since January 5, which will continue to be delivered to Flint over the coming days:

130,782 cases of water
115,700 water filters
61,161 water testing kits
Persons wishing to volunteer or provide material, in-kind, or financial donations can visit www.helpforflint.com for more information.

Water resource sites remain open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and are located at:
