Congresswoman Lawrence Statement on the Nomination of Dr. Ben Carson for Secretary of HUD

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — Rep. Brenda Lawrence (MI-14) today released a statement regarding the nomination by the Trump administration of Dr. Ben Carson as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development:

“The United States of America faces extreme challenges as it relates to housing needs and concerns. The American people deserve quality and qualified leadership as we move forward in this new administration and every appointment from the administration of President-elect Trump is critical to a successful future.

“Should the nomination of Dr. Ben Carson be accepted and confirmed, I will be working tirelessly to ensure that the needs of Michigan’s 14th district are heard loud and clear. Dr. Carson is notably a man of intelligence and skill; however, this country needs a leader who will boldly tackle heavy housing issues such as urban development, fighting homelessness and housing discrimination and promoting equal opportunity.

“While I question how Dr. Carson’s skills and expertise align with the position of HUD Secretary, it is my hope that he would work passionately for the people with sincere care and consideration for the needs of urban areas in our major cities, including his hometown of Detroit, Michigan.”
