BAY CITY, MI – March 31, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — A ribbon-cutting ceremony will welcome the Michigan Department of Environment Quality (DEQ) and the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth (DELEG) to their new location at the Bay City Business Center ( www.baycitybusinesscenter.com  ), a building with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.  Murray D. Wikol – President and CEO of ProVisions, LLC, the facility’s developer and owner – will host this ceremony at 2 p.m. on Earth Day, April 22, at 401 Ketchum Street.  Anticipated special guests and invitees include D-EQ Director Steven E. Chester, DELEG Director Stanley “Skip” Pruss, Department of Management and Budget Director Lisa Webb-Sharpe, Mayor Charles M. Brunner, legislators and Bay City’s top employers.
Complimentary tours of the property will be available to the public from noon to 2 p.m. and 3 to 4 p.m.

“This is the first state office building in Michigan to be LEED certified Gold and capable of producing some of its own electricity on site,” said Tim Diebolt, DEQ Office of Business Services Chief.  It was designed as an environmentally conscious commercial property with a pond stormwater retention system and a wind turbine capable of producing between 30 and 40 percent of the facility’s electricity.

The State of Michigan will be leasing the Bay City Business Center’s 24,996 square feet of office space while six additional acres remain available for sale or build-to-suit with retail, restaurant and banking opportunities for future LEED-certified sustainable users.  The facility’s proximity to I-75, I-69, I-96 and US-23 give it excellent access to the Tri-Cities, all of Michigan and the Midwest.
