The City’s Response to the Heavy Storm Occurring on Sunday, August 2
As you are all aware, on Sunday, August 2nd, in the early evening, a heavy storm swept through the Northern Michigan region causing significant damage in many communities. It has been reported that Traverse City witnessed straight line winds of over 70 mph which caused over 3,000 Traverse City Light and Power customers to lose power and the majority of the City to face fallen trees and large amounts of debris on their property.
DNR awards nearly $250,000 for projects along Iron Belle Trail
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has awarded 16 grantees in 15 counties a total of $249,190 to develop Michigan’s newest (and longest) trail, the Iron Belle. Each grant recipient was awarded up to $25,000 for planning, engineering and design projects along either the hiking route or the bicycle route
