LANSING, Mich. – (RealEstateRama) — The Michigan Agency for Energy (MAE) and the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today unveiled a new web page dedicated to the efforts underway to implement Michigan’s new energy laws (Public Act 341 (PA 341) and Public Act 342 (PA 342) of 2016) and opportunities for public involvement.

The web page – Michigan.gov/energylegislation — contains general information on implementation tasks, staff leads for each of the tasks, implementation status updates and ways to keep informed of opportunities for public involvement.

PA 341 updates Michigan’s energy laws relating to utility rate cases, electric choice, certificate of necessity, and electric capacity resource adequacy, and establishes an integrated resource planning process. PA 342 updates Michigan’s energy laws relating to renewable energy, energy waste reduction, and distributed generation, and allows utilities to implement on-bill financing programs. The laws take effect on April 20.

The MPSC on Feb. 28 issued an order that temporarily suspended the schedules for the SRM proceedings established for Consumers Energy and DTE Electric and established a comment period on the scope and the schedules for the proceedings related to implementation of certain sections of Public Act 341 of 2016 (PA 341).

The following meetings have already been scheduled:

    • Initial meeting for the demand response and energy waste reduction subgroups of the integrated resource planning statewide parameter setting/modeling work team at 9 a.m. on March 17, MPSC office, 7109 W. Saginaw Highway, Lansing.

  • Initial meeting for the distributed generation program work team at 1:30 p.m., on March 22, MPSC office, 7109 W. Saginaw Highway, Lansing.
