MPSC Approves Settlement Agreement Authorizing Consumers Energy Company to Recover $333,459 from Electric Customers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 16, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved a settlement agreement authorizing Consumers Energy Company to recover $333,459 from electric customers in the Oct. 2015 billing month.

Residential customers using 500 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month will see an increase in the surcharge of 6 cents during that billing month.

The utility was authorized by the Commission on Dec. 6, 2012 to refund to retail electric customers $23,300,000 during the Jan. 2013 billing month through the June 2013 billing month. During the implementation of that refund, a variance between forecasted and actual sales resulted in an outstanding positive residual balance of $333,459.

The utility and the MPSC staff participated in the settlement.
