MPSC Approves Settlement Agreement Eliminating Alpena Power Company’s Renewable Energy Monthly Surcharge

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – August 17, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved a settlement agreement authorizing Alpena Power Company to implement its renewable energy plan.

Because the utility purchases its required renewable energy credits from Consumers Energy Company, which has reduced its renewable energy surcharge to zero, Alpena Power Company will also reduce its monthly surcharge to zero, effective July 1.

The utility and the MPSC staff participated in the settlement.

In addition to Alpena Power Company and Consumers Energy Company, three utilities serving Michigan electric customers have no renewable energy surcharges: Upper Peninsula Power Company, Wisconsin Public Service Corporation and Northern States Power Company. DTE Electric Company’s request to eliminate its renewable energy surcharge is pending at the MPSC.

Case No. U-17791
