Gov. Rick Snyder appoints Sylvester Jones to Flint Water Interagency Coordinating Committee
LANSING, Mich. – (RealEstateRama) — Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Sylvester Jones, of Flint, to the Flint Water Interagency Coordinating Committee.
The 17-member committee is making recommendations regarding the health and welfare of people exposed to lead, studying Flint’s water infrastructure and determining potential upgrades, reviewing Flint Water Task Force recommendations, and establishing ways to improve communication between local and state government.
“I am looking forward to Sylvester’s expertise and contributions he will bring to the committee as we continue to address the water crisis in Flint,” Snyder said.
Jones is the city administrator for the City of Flint and had previously served as a program officer for the Ruth Mott Foundation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Saginaw Valley State University and a master’s degree in public administration from Central Michigan University. Jones will be a representative of the City of Flint whose name was submitted by Flint’s mayor. He will replace Natasha Henderson on the committee.
Jones will serve a three-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2018. His appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
