The Michigan Agency for Energy (MAE) and the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today unveiled a new web page dedicated to the efforts underway to implement Michigan’s new energy laws (Public Act 341 (PA 341) and Public Act 342 (PA 342) of 2016) and opportunities for public involvement.

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today rescheduled proceedings for Consumers Energy Company (Consumers Energy) and DTE Electric Company (DTE Electric) related to the implementation of a State Reliability Mechanism (SRM), which addresses the long-term adequacy of the state’s electric resources. The MPSC’s order also directs MPSC staff to commence a technical conference to address certain issues raised that are tangentially related to the establishment of the SRM.

On Wednesday, Congressman Bill Huizenga, Co-Chair of the U.S. House Great Lakes Task Force, testified before the House Appropriations Energy and Water Subcommittee on the importance of properly using funds collected in the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund and water infrastructure across the Great Lakes. Congressman Huizenga discussed the strong bipartisan effort he has led to hold Washington accountable and make the federal government live up to its promise of dredging harbors across the Great Lakes.

Today kicked off the three-day “Water Infrastructure Conference: A National Conversation in Flint” hosted by the City of Flint and State of Michigan. The conference is bringing together experts from around the world to explore national water infrastructure issues, share lessons learned from the City of Flint and other cities around the country, and discuss new technologies and innovations concerning infrastructure.

FLINT, Mich. The most recent round of Extended Sentinel Site testing for the City of Flint’s water system again tested below action levels of the federal Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) with 90 percent of the Tier I samples at or below 8 parts per billion (PPB), which is well below the 15 PPB federal action level

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has posted the 2017 Paving the Way state construction map online for motorists to download. The public is encouraged to download the map and print it at home or at their nearest library or print service provider. The map is available at www.michigan.gov/mdotmaps, and will also be on display in all rest areas and Welcome Centers across the state.

The City of Traverse City Department of Public Services will be overseeing storm water sewer televising and inspection work at various locations throughout the City. Locations that will require more extensive traffic control and partial lane closures include: East Front Street, Grandview Parkway, Division Street, Fourteenth Street, Veterans Drive, Cass Street, Union Street, Lake Street, Railroad Avenue, Woodmere Avenue, Hannah Avenue, Garfield Avenue, East Eighth Street, Peninsula Drive and the Downtown area.

Hart residents will soon have access to much-needed supportive housing in their community. The Michigan State Housing Development Authority board recently approved funding for a new 24-unit family development at 600 Water Street.

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today authorized Consumers Energy Company to increase its electric rates by $113,277,000 annually, effective March 7. Because the amount the MPSC approved is less than what the utility self-implemented in September last year, customers will see a refund, plus interest, in the future.

The Michigan Civil Rights Commission today released their report on their year-long investigation into the civil rights implications of the Flint water crisis. After conducting three public hearings and taking testimony from more than 150 residents, experts and government officials, the Commission determined that the actions resulting in the poisoning of the city’s water supply abridged the civil rights of Flint residents under state law
